Love them or hate them, Christmas dinner isn’t complete without them, so how will you choose to serve yours this year?

Try one of the below contenders in our battle of the sprouts and you never know, you might even have a couple of converts around the Christmas table.

Nathan Outlaw’s Brussels sprouts with chestnuts and bacon

Nathan claims that these are too good to dish up only at Christmas and we have to agree. The saltiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the chestnuts make for a great combo and well, pretty much everything is better with bacon!

Trine Hahnemann’s Brussels sprouts with clementine

Agreeing that Brussels sprouts boiled to death is her idea of hell, Trine Hahnemann likes to sauté hers with chilli to make this warm salad with clementines. A light and healthy addition to digest all that wonderful, but heavy, Christmas food.

Ed Smith’s Deep-fried Brussels sprouts

Surely deep frying vegetables defeats the object, we hear you ask? Well in some respects, yes, but its Christmas, so treat yourself to this Ed Smith recipe. Fun both to make and serve, they are sweet on the inside and crunchy on the outside, with a hint of caramel.

Sarah Raven’s Sauté of red Brussels sprouts with almonds

Sautéed with a dash of vinegar, these amazing crimson Brussels sprouts keep their colour, so anyone who steers clear of anything green no longer has any excuse!
