With our columnist Richard Burr on his well-deserved holiday, we caught up with Juliet Sear, founder of cake boutique Fancy Nancy and author of Cakeology, about this week’s goings on in the Great British Bake Off tent.

If I had to pick a star baker this week? Definitely Paul.

The lion sculpture was really impressive I thought, and it’s hard enough making something like that in sugar or chocolate, but bread? Hat's off to him there.

When it comes to baking bread, it's sourdough all the way for me.

Nothing else comes close in terms of flavour and it’s SO easy. I recently did a three-day bread course at Bread Ahead with Aidan Chapman, aka the dough anarchist! It's opened my eyes hugely and now I am a regular wild yeast bread baker. I have my sourdough starter in my fridge and bake with it at least twice a week. Plus it is much better for the digestion.

Who’s in danger for the next round? Ooh, that’s a tough one. I think maybe Mat.

His Brighton Pavilion doughverload didn’t fare well after Paul’s lion.

Dorret… to avoid being sent home, she should have bloomin’ practiced her show stopper first!!

That was a BIG mistake. Whenever I have to do a new project or tricky creative challenge I always have a run through a couple of times first... at the very least!

The best bake from bread week is a no-brainer really, isn’t it?

Paul and that lion!

If I were a contestant this week, my showstopper would’ve been a Liverpool football badge.

I'd hope that Paul may have given me extra points!
