Floyd's Food: Goulasch

Why?

This sounds like the perfect dish to make for people in need of a little home comfort, such as tired and hungry new parents; one pot, low stress and plenty of leftovers for the next day.

The prep

I grabbed the ingredients for this without looking too closely at the quantities, because who needs more than a single pot of paprika in one dish? Think again. Regular spice pots from regular supermarkets equal about half the quantity needed! Cue a quick dash to the shops.

The cooking

I ended up using a slow cooker, even less stress than Floyd’s one pot suggestion. It meant we could forget it completely without any worries about the sauce catching on the bottom or there not being enough liquid.

The verdict

This goulasch went down a treat. So much so that there were none of the leftovers we’d hoped for. The paprika really gave it a punch of flavour, contrasting nicely with the cool sour cream and the meat was beautifully tender after its lengthy simmer.
