Method

  1. You don’t really need a recipe to make granola – just a guideline on quantities of oats to other ingredients. Start with 1.5 kg rolled oats (never instant oats; they are completely lacking in texture). To this you can add about 3 cups of other ingredients. Perhaps a mix of sultanas, raisins, dried figs, apricots and prunes (these last three ingredients need to be chopped), plus almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower kernels. Simply mix everything together and store in an airtight container. No roasting, no toasting – no work, really. (Of course, you can toast your oats and nuts, but it’s easier not to and the result is still completely delicious.) Serve with milk and Greek-style yoghurt.
