Snitter makes an easy, informal dinner, for two or a party, and it’s a great way to use up leftovers. My morfar (grandfather) hated being invited for snitter, because it was often served with tea, which meant he always complained to my mormor (grandmother); he did not care for tea. For him, any hygge moment was best with beer.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 slice rye bread
10g salted butter
80g sliced cooked beef
Pickled mixed vegetables
30g fried onions

For the horseradish cream

Quantity Ingredient
2 tablespoons greek yogurt
2 teaspoons freshly grated horseradish
pinch sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
sea salt
freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Mix the ingredients for the horseradish cream, adding salt and pepper. Butter the bread, place the beef on top, add horseradish cream and top with pickled vegetables and fried onions.
