These can be served with dishes, such as fried fish, game, meat, chicken or vegetable gratins, or added to gravies. In Sweden lingon sylt is eaten much as ketchup or mustard is in other cultures.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1kg fresh or frozen lingonberries or cowberries
200ml water
500g caster sugar

Method

  1. Boil the berries in the water for about 8 minutes, skimming off any scum. Add the sugar and boil for 8 minutes.
  2. Pour into warmed, sterilized preserving jars.
