When I was at school I had a coffee shop that was my saviour and I went there a few days a week after school for one of their epic hot chocolates. Marshmallows in hot chocolate – whoever came up with that is a hero!

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 tablespoon cocoa powder, plus extra to decorate
300ml milk
4 tablespoons double cream, whipped
small handful marshmallows

Method

  1. Take a large mug and spoon in the cocoa powder.
  2. Gently heat your milk in a pan.
  3. When the milk is hot pour it into the mug with the cocoa powder, stirring all the time.
  4. Whisk the cream. Keep whisking until it’s nice and thick.
  5. When it’s thick and stiff, spoon it on top of the chocolate drink.
  6. Push in the marshmallows.
  7. Dust with a bit of cocoa powder.

Optional extras:

  • A teaspoon of whisky would be gorgeous and give this a real kick.

Serving suggestions:

  • Drink on its own, or with some lovely chocolate to nibble on while you chill out and chat.
