Nut butters are really easy to make; in fact your food processor does all the work for you. The trick is to be patient and wait until the nut butter is really smooth and glossy. You’ll be tempted to stop the blender after 6 minutes, but honestly it’s worth the wait if you leave it running for a few minutes more.

There are just a couple of words of warning before you start: Making nut butter is pretty noisy, so perhaps wait until the house has woken up before you crack on with making your own.

Making nut butter requires a pretty powerful food processor and has been known on occasion to send a few off to food-processor heaven. Be sure to keep an eye on your processor, as the friction from the milling can sometimes cause the blender to overheat.
