There’s a saying in Italy, ‘La cucina è il cuore della casa’, which translates to ‘The kitchen is the heart of the home’. For Italians, food is what brings family and friends together, which is such a wonderful yet simple sentiment.

My very first job was at an Italian restaurant in Australia, which inspired me to train as a chef, and I’ve been passionate about Italian food ever since. Italy is by far my favourite holiday destination too – great food, wine, people, history, hospitality and culture. What more could you want? Tuscany, Sardinia, Milan, Cinque Terre and Positano are just a few of my all-time favourites, and I never tire of visiting them.

These days I work as a food stylist and am no longer a chef in a restaurant. Being a food stylist has taught me how important it is for food to initially grab you by the way it looks. I hope you agree that the dishes in Little Italy are visually beautiful, and taste ‘deliziosa’. I wanted to share my recipes with you so you too can impress your friends and family with your cooking prowess.

All the recipes in this book are simple and flavourful. Italian finger food is designed around entertaining so I hope you have as much fun making them for your friends as I did making them especially for you.

‘Mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto’ – Eat well, laugh often, love much.

Buon appetito!
