Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 1/4 cups milk
1 onion
1 bay leaf
6 black peppercorns
1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
salt
unsalted butter or cream

Method

  1. Gently simmer the milk, onion, bay leaf and peppercorns in a small saucepan for 15 minutes. Strain into a jug and return to the saucepan, add breadcrumbs and salt, to taste. Simmer until creamy. Stir in a little butter or cream. Serve with roast chicken.
