Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup plain flour
A pinch salt
2 eggs, beaten lightly
1 cup beer or soda water

Method

  1. Sift flour and salt into a bowl, make a well in the centre and pour in eggs and beer or soda water. Stir flour in gradually and beat to a smooth batter. Stand for an hour before using if possible.

Note:

  • self-raising flour can be used and it gives a particularly light batter that many love.
