Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
125g butter
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup s.r. flour
1/2 cup plain flour
A pinch salt
60g blanched almonds

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Melt the butter and cook to a light brown over a low heat. Cool slightly, add the sugar and beat well. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Fold in the flours, sifted with the salt. Roll into balls, each about the size of a walnut. Place on a greased tray, allowing room for spreading. Put a blanched almond on top of each. Bake for 10–12 minutes.
