The blackcurrant liqueur crème de cassis is rather expensive, but for very special friends or a festive occasion, why not splash out and buy a bottle? It goes a long way mixed with Champagne (no need to use a costly one) for Kir Royal, or a crisp white wine such as chablis for Kir – both are great drinks to whet the appetite.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 cup crème de cassis
750ml champagne or chablis, well chilled

Method

  1. Have champagne glasses well chilled and the Champagne or wine still on ice. Pour a little crème de cassis into each glass and top with the wine. Stir and serve.
