Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1.5 litres burgundy or claret
1 small orange, peel thinly pared
1 lemon, peel thinly pared
8cm cinnamon stick
1/4 whole nutmeg, crushed
6 cloves
2 tablespoons sugar, or more to taste

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to just under boiling point, then turn off heat and stand for 10 minutes. Strain into mugs and serve hot.

Note

  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, stir in more sugar before serving.
