Serve this savoury mince with creamy mashed potatoes or with hot buttered toast. It can be varied by adding chopped fresh herbs or a spoonful of tomato paste.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon dripping or oil
500g minced steak
1 tablespoon plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper
250ml beef stock
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Fry onions in dripping or oil in frying pan until soft. Add minced steak, press down with a fork and fry until browned and crumbly. Add flour, salt and pepper and mix well.
  2. Stir in beef stock and Worcestershire sauce and bring to the boil, stirring. Reduce heat, cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
