Creamy custard with a subtle maple flavour, baked in individual pots or one large dish.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
4 eggs
500ml milk
120ml maple syrup
pinch salt
cream, whipped, to serve
maple syrup, to serve

Method

  1. Beat eggs, then add milk, maple syrup and salt and combine well. Pour into 6 buttered custard cups or a buttered 1 litre casserole.
  2. Set container in a baking tin with enough warm water to come halfway up side of container. Bake in a preheated moderate oven for about 30 minutes for individual cups, or 45–50 minutes for larger dish, or until set. Serve warm, with cream and a drizzle of maple syrup.
