A quickly made, cheesy scone ring.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
300g plain flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
185g edam cheese, grated
4 tablespoons piccalilli pickle, chopped
1 egg
170ml milk

Method

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and paprika. Stir in cheese and piccalilli. Beat together egg and milk. Pour into flour mixture to make a soft dough, reserving a little milk for glazing. Knead dough very lightly and divide into 6 pieces.
  2. Form each into a roll and place on a greased baking tray to form a circle with rolls just touching each other. Brush with reserved milk and egg mixture. Bake in a preheated hot oven for 25 minutes or until golden-brown. Cool on a wire rack. Separate rolls and serve split and buttered, either hot or cold.
