Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
375g packet frozen puff pastry, thawed, (see Tip)
4-6 eating apples such as red or golden delicious, peeled and cored
110g caster sugar
125g butter
a little warmed honey
whipped cream or creme fraiche, to serve

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Dampen a baking tray.
  2. Roll out the pastry dough thinly on a floured work surface. With a 15 cm round cutter or saucer, cut out six rounds. Turn the rounds over onto the prepared baking tray and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Slice the apples downwards very thinly. Arrange on the pastry rounds in overlapping rows. Sprinkle with the sugar and dot with butter. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the apples and pastry are golden. Brush the tops with honey, and serve warm with chilled crème fraîche.

Tip

  • If you can’t find a block of puff pastry, use ready-rolled puff pastry sheets.
