This was a favourite order of mine at Pogo’s punk café in Hackney, which held sway for all good animal activists in the noughties. Yes, it was all a bit ‘Judean People’s Front’, with many wars between the freegans, the flexitarians and the vegans. Myself – I was accused of not being quite ‘consensual’ enough as a chef in the kitchen, i.e. being a non-PC bossy boots. But some of the food was good.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
50ml mango puree or pulp
50ml coconut yoghurt
100ml sweetened soya milk
1 green cardamom pod, seeds removed and ground
handful ice cubes
dried mango strips, to garnish

Method

  1. Whizz all the ingredients together, except any garnishes, in a powerful blender such as a Vitamix.
