ught orange marmalade is fine. I love the bittersweet flavours of the Sicilian liqueur Averna. One summery evening between our restaurant manager Luca, friend Natalia and ourselves we tried various combinations of Averna with the typical citrus flavours from Sicily (all in the name of research, of course). This was the winning combination and it has become one of our favourite summer drinks.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
25ml averna
25ml grand marnier
15ml lemon juice
1 length orange peel
1 sprig mint

Method

  1. Shake the ingredients together over ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain and serve in an Old Fashioned glass with a twist of orange peel, the sprig of mint and a few ice cubes.

Variation:

  • To add a dash of sparkle, divide the Natalia between two white wine glasses and top with Prosecco or Champagne.
