The word ‘breakfast’ literally means to take a break from your fast, as it’s the first meal taken after a night’s sleep. It is incredibly important to nourish yourself in the morning after a night of fasting – you will have much more energy and perform much better throughout the day. If you want to boost your metabolism, then eating breakfast is one of the best and fastest ways to do so. And remember, skipping meals, especially breakfast, often leads to overeating later in the day. A great way to get into the habit of eating a healthy, nutritious and energy-boosting breakfast is to plan your meal before you go to bed at night. For example, when I know I want a green smoothie in the morning, I put all the ingredients in my blender the night before. The following day, I’m usually woken by the sound of the blender as my 16-year-old daughter, Emma, has already turned it on and is drinking it herself. She loves green smoothies, too!
