Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 portion Basic bolognese
800g potatoes
butter
milk

Method

  1. To make the mince beefier and more savoury, add some leftover gravy, meat juices or braising liquid from a beef stew otherwise a teaspoon of Bovril or Marmite dissolved in 2 tablespoon boiling water should do the trick.
  2. Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Place them in a saucepan, cover with water and boil until soft. Drain, then add a small dash of milk and knob of butter and mash until smooth.
  3. Put the meat in a pie dish and top with mashed potato. Bake for 30–35 minutes in a moderately hot oven (190°C).
