There is nothing like having your own home-made granola stored in a large airtight jar to grab any time you feel like pouring out some crunchiness and pairing it with some delicious home-made yoghurt. You can use any combination of dried fruit you wish, while coconut is also a great addition.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
900g rolled oats
100g sesame seeds, white or black, or both
100g walnuts, chopped
50g ground or milled flaxseeds
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
100ml honey or maple syrup
100ml olive oil, (not extra virgin as this is too flavoursome)
100g mixed dried fruit, (if you are using dates reduce the amount of honey to taste)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Thoroughly combine all the ingredients except the dried fruit in a large bowl. Spread the mixture out on a baking tray and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant; give the granola a good stir halfway through cooking. Remove from the oven and leave it to cool.
  2. Add the dried fruit and enjoy with a dollop of home-made yoghurt.
