Serve this for breakfast on thick slices of toast. Salted butter is best, giving flavour to the sweet dried fruit. Use dates if you prefer.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
250g salted butter, room temperature
250g dried figs (the softer the better), finely chopped
1 heaped teaspoon mixed spice
or Quatre épices

Method

  1. Mash the butter, figs and spice together and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.
